England were held to a 2-2 draw with Spain last night in an international friendly at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate’s side found themselves 2-0 heading into the last ten minutes of the game but Spain fought back to secure a draw in the dying embers of the match.

England had the perfect start to the match. They were awarded a penalty in the 9th minute after Pepe Reina felled Jamie Vardy in the area, with Adam Lallana firing the ball home from the spot.

Jamie Vardy doubled England’s lead in the 48th minute. The Leicester forward dived onto the end of Jordan Henderson’s cross to power a header past Reina to make it 2-0.

Substitute Iago Aspas then gave Spain some hope in the 89th minute. He drove into the box before curling a superb strike into the top corner of Tom Heaton’s net.

Fellow sub Isco then completed the comeback as he fired low through the legs of Heaton in the 96th minute of the match.
