England beat Malta 4-0 on Friday night to secure three points in their World Cup qualifying group.

They are two points clear at the top of the table as it stands, and look well set to qualify for next summer’s World Cup in Russia.

The home side defended valiantly throughout and were able to limit England to few clear-cut opportunities in the first-half.

The opening goal came midway through the second half. Dele Alli worked space in the area and slipped a ball through to Harry Kane, with the forward finishing calmly to put England ahead.

Ryan Bertrand added a second in the 85th minute. His effort from long-range bounced just in front of the keeper and slipped into the bottom corner.

Danny Welbeck came off the bench to add a goal in added time, as he poked in Harry Kane’s cross.

Kane then scored his second of the game as he latched onto a through ball to make it 4-0.

Picking a man of the match has been fairly easy, with one man standing out above the rest.

Our England man of the match against Malta is… Harry Kane!

The forward scored two of England’s four goals and set-up one of them as well.

He was clinical in front of goal and retained possession well, holding the ball up and bringing others into play.
