Looking with just a quick glance, you’d think that this team picture of the Brazilian national side is just a normal team photograph, with the goalkeeper in the middle and the coach on the end, right?

@Rupert_Fryer

Well, that is not the case at all.

The man in the green shirt is actually Bolivian striker Marcelo Martins, who was set to play against Brazil in the fixture!

Martins played for Brazil at various youth levels before switching his allegiances and playing for Bolivia, the country of his birth, at senior level, so why was he in the Brazilian team picture?

The Brazilian squad, recognising Martins’ close connections with the country he represented at youth levels, invited him to join the squad for a picture and he gladly accepted.

In truth, it was probably the most entertaining thing that happened on the night as the two teams went on to play out a pretty dull 0-0 draw.
