England came out as narrow victors in Lithuania on Sunday evening, clinching a 1-0 win thanks to a first-half penalty from Harry Kane.
The visitors headed into the game off the back of an unconvincing 1-0 win at home to Slovenia on Thursday night, and were able to repeat the scoreline at the LFF Stadium against Lithuania.
Dele Alli was brought down in the box, which led to Kane netting the decisive goal with a well-taken penalty.
It was yet another uninspiring performance from England, but they came out on top and were able to secure yet another three points in the World Cup qualifying rounds.
Here are our player ratings for Gareth Southgate’s side.
Jack Butland - 7
Butland made a smart stop to deny what would have been an embarrassing own goal from Michael Keane.
John Stones - 6
Stones was reasonably assured throughout.
Michael Keane - 5
Looked slightly erratic by his usually high standards. Could have cost England the win with a poor attempt of a clearance.
Harry Maguire - 6
Bar one early slip-up, Maguire was reasonably solid on his England debut.
Kieran Trippier - 6
Offered England an outlet on the right but did nothing particularly special.
Harry Winks - 7
An impressive England debut from Winks. He looked composed and efficient on the ball throughout.
Jordan Henderson - 5
Failed to really make his mark on the game. Gave the ball away on several occasions.
Aaron Cresswell - 7
Cresswell performed well down the left and was threatening going forward.
Marcus Rashford - 5
Worked hard but struggled to really influence the game in a somewhat peculiar role.
Dele Alli - 5
Despite winning the penalty, Alli didn’t have a great deal of impact on the game.
Harry Kane - 6
Didn’t have too many chances but took the penalty well.
Substitutes
Daniel Sturridge – 5 – Spurned several good chances.
Jesse Lingard – 5 – Didn’t influence the game at all.
