Looking to provide equal opportunities for all involved in football, the FA have announced some major changes in their future job searches.

Adopting their own version of the ‘Rooney Rule’ the FA have confirmed that at least one black or ethnic minority candidate will be considered for future England vacancies.

The rule, named after former Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney, looks to hand minority candidates a fair and equal chance of earning some high-profile jobs to fight against discrimination within sport.

In the NFL where this rule was first implemented, there has been an upturn in the number of black or minority candidates securing top head coaching roles in the league, and the FA hope that this will carry over to their sport.
