The FA have confirmed plans to lodge a bid to host the 2030 World Cup, according to the BBC.

England have not hosted a major tournament since 1996 when the European Championship were played in the country.

Following a successful World Cup campaign in Russia, ‘World Cup fever’ struck the nation, prompting calls for England to host the competition.

England had previously been hoping to land the 2018 World Cup itself but saw their bid for the competition fall short.

FA chairman Greg Clarke has confirmed that work is being done to see if this is a reasonable target for the Football Association.

The FA will get an opportunity to show their potential when they host seven of the games at Euro 2020.

The report claims that Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay are all expected to make a joint bid to take the tournament to South America.

The United States, Canada and Mexico are hosting the 2026 World Cup.
