The Republic of Ireland drew 0-0 with Denmark at the Aviva Stadium tonight in a UEFA Nations League game that will not last long in the memories of those who watched it.

Most of the first-half was so devoid of any real action that the fans would have been forgiven if they started to fall asleep. In fact, the only time the home fans had something to get excited about was when Hendrick took advantage of some Danish confusion to run through on goal, but he inexplicably missed the target when he only had the keeper to beat.

The second-half had more action (which wasn’t exactly difficult), but, apart from a goalline clearance and a couple of speculative efforts, it was still nothing to write home about.

The quality of the game can be summed up by the fact that there were more yellow cards in the match (5) than shots on target (3).
